2010 Scholarships

2010 HAMPTON ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS

The Hampton Rotary Club is sponsoring two $1,500 scholarships for seniors in the Hampton School District for the class of 2010.

Interested students should fill out the Application Form and meet the requirements listed below:

1. Grade Point Average - Minimum of 3.0; attach an official school transcript.

2. Scholarship applicants must have applied to a college, university, trade school, or formal post-high school program which provides further education and which awards a certificate, diploma or degree upon completion.

3. Essay - Minimum of 2, maximum of 3, double-spaced, typed pages answering the following questions:

     a. How has community service positively affected your life?

     b. How have you made a difference in the community?

     c. What can be done to make teenagers participate more actively in the community?

4. Interviews - Will be conducted in the High School for the finalists and will last approximately 10-15 minutes per student.

5. Time Frame:

     a. Return the applications essay and transcript to your guidance counselor no later than April 12, 2010.

     b. Interviews will be conducted in the High School during the week of April 19th for the finalists, most likely on Thursday April 22 in the morning.

     c. Scholarship winners will attend a meeting of the Hampton Rotary for lunch at the Wildwood Country Club on a Thursday in early May.

     d. Presentation of a certificate acknowledging the scholarship award will take place at the awards ceremony.

6. Payment - All scholarship awards will be paid directly to the institution at which the student is enrolled and commences instruction, either directly to the financial aid office or to the institution’s bookstore as an open account
